Here I sit on 2-22-22 and it's been a doozy so far. It's only 1pm and I am going to recap this basic comedy of errors that has been my day thus far. Well it hasn't been so much a comedy and there really weren't errors.... but you'll get it when you keep reading.
If you haven't gathered by the name of my site and the fact that you most likely know me and that's how you found this page, I am a woman so *warning if you don't want to read about girly stuff, skip down the page now. HAHA!
I woke up and immediately started my period. You always know that it's going to just be a *sarcasm* FABULOUS day when that happens.
My family and I are housesitting for my parents while they are away. They are caretakers for my grandfather and he can't go with them, so the house comes with a grandparent and 2 cats that are better taken care of then most people take care of themselves. HAHA! We've housesat for them quite a bit in the last year, so the kids are having a particularly difficult time this time because they really like to be home and sleep in their own beds.... like most of us. With their routine off, it's causing some abnormal crankiness.
This morning, we get out of bed and head down the stairs to start our day and almost immediately our day starts with chaos. I feed the cats and sit down on the couch with everyone. Everything is fine, for about 30 seconds and my daughter goes to stand up and falls.
If you're friends with me on Facebook, you probably know that somewhat recently we had to go to the doctor for this. She had a virus that caused toxic synovitis. (If you don't know what that is, it sounds scary but it is swelling in the hip joint that happens in a lot of toddlers after a virus. It'll cause limping and pain. And in our cause, her refusal to walk.)
She had a virus last week AGAIN (Kids man. Can't keep them healthy ever) and with this happening a second time, at least we knew what it was. So I rush out of my parents house and go to ours (which isn't far) and grab meds and come back.
When I get back, my husband and I make her take some meds and then he starts getting ready for work.
I thought it would be nice to make him some breakfast for the road. I throw some bread in the toaster oven and play with my daughter.
The toast finishes as my grandfather starts coming out to the dining room while at the same time my daughter decides that she wanted to get down and play.... which she can't walk... so she starts sobbing.
I pick her up and take the toast out of the toaster. I put her in the chair next to my grandfather and I grab the peanut butter and go to put it on the toast and my son calls from the other room.
My son wants something to drink, but the drink that he wants, I have to make out of a powder because we had finished it.
I start making the juice and my grandfather is looking for breakfast. So I have one scoop of the juice powder in the container, un-peanut buttered toast, and now I am grabbing cereal for my grandfather.
I get his cereal and pills and some water and of course he also asks for a second drink. Coffee. Which I hadn't made yet because my head is basically spinning around like the exorcist trying to do everything at the same exact time.
I finish making the juice and pour some for my son.
Then I hear my daughter crying because she tried to stand again. So I pick her up and tell her how sorry I am that she isn't feeling well but that she has to try to remember not to stand. (she is a toddler so the concept is a bit lost on her)
I finally hand my son his juice and my grandfather asks for coffee again. Still haven't made it.
I start making coffee and I see that the knife is still in the peanut butter next to the now cold toast.
While the coffee is going, I peanut butter the toast and just look around because I know I must be forgetting something!
My husband comes down the stairs for work and his leaving makes the kids sad because ya know they love daddy. So then comes more tears.
I finally get my grandfather all squared away and now it's time for the kids.
I don't care that it's breakfast... they're getting easy Mac. haha!
I make some easy Mac and both kids were pretty ok with that.
My son then decides he in a banana mood and eats 3.
My daughter now requires bacon and chips. HAHAHA
Allllllll of this chaos and now I clean the entire kitchen because to make bacon I have to get the pan that is at the bottom of sink full of dirty dishes.
So I started loading the dishwasher and "I have to go potty".
Ok.... so we're on the potty.
*crying*
Someone tried to stand again. I can't blame her. With a short attention span, and something that is just so natural to do you're bound to forget that you can't do it.
So I tell her that I am almost about to make bacon for her and that I am going to set her up with a blanket, a tablet, some juice and Mickey on the tv but that bacon will be done soon. (I always feel like I have to go the extra mile when they're sick. Normally I would have been like "Dude you just ate. No") I fill up her juice and start on the bacon.
She gets really quiet. *internally* I'm like "YESSSSSS early nap time today" I check on her and she is sleeping! Woohoo.
And now it's snack time for the kitties. So I get them their kitty treats. (I'm telling you better taken care of then most people.)
Everyone is fed (except me). Sleeping. Watching tv. Playing.
I don't know how people with more than 2 kids do this man. I felt like I had 4 today. I was not built for this. HAHA!
Anyway... if anyone reads this. I hope that you have a wonderful and caffeinated day!
