(No idea why it's called that, so don't ask)
Preheat oven to 350°F
- 1/2 cup of shortening/butter/margarine
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon if baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 4 cups of tart apples sliced
- (Optional) 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts
Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Gradually added dry ingredients and apples. "Pour" batter into greased(or nonstick) 13x9 pan and bake for 40 minutes.
*Pour is in quotes because it's a very thick batter and will not pour*
Topping
- 1 cup of brown sugar firmly packed
- 1 cup of water
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
Combine all over low heat until thickened.
